Croquet for a Cure Youth Crew

At Croquet for a Cure, our mission is clear: to help fund research toward a cure for Alzheimer’s and other related neurocognitive diseases. But the way we pursue that mission is what makes it truly special. This fundraiser is powered by community—and at the center of that community is our Croquet for a Cure Youth Crew, a group of remarkable young people who represent the future of compassion, leadership, and service.

Building the Future of Croquet for a Cure

Since 2023, our Youth Crew has played a vital role in making the Croquet for a Cure Tournament a success. These dedicated kids don’t just show up on event day—they prepare weeks in advance. They learn the rules of croquet, understand tournament play, and step confidently into leadership roles so that every match runs smoothly.

On tournament day, the Youth Crew does it all. You’ll find them:

  • Managing matches and keeping play on track
  • Selling raffle tickets and supporting fundraising efforts
  • Cheering on players with enthusiasm and sportsmanship
  • Offering encouragement—and sometimes a little empathy—after a tough shot

Their energy, responsibility, and kindness set the tone for the entire event and remind us that meaningful change happens when generations come together for a shared cause.

Youth with Heart and Purpose

What makes the Croquet for a Cure Youth Crew so impactful is not just what they do, but why they do it. Many of our youth volunteers have personal connections to Alzheimer’s disease and understand firsthand why this fundraiser matters.

In 2025, the Bushard siblings courageously shared the story of losing their beloved Nona to Alzheimer’s and spoke about the profound impact the disease had on their family. Moments like these are deeply moving and serve as powerful reminders of the real lives behind the cause. They reinforce why Alzheimer’s research, awareness, and community-driven fundraising are so critical.

More Than Volunteers—They Are the Legacy

Our Youth Crew members are essential to the success of Croquet for a Cure, but their contribution goes far beyond logistics. They bring heart, hope, and joy to the tournament. They show us what empathy looks like in action and what the next generation of philanthropy can be.

As C.S. Lewis so perfectly said:

“Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the most important work.”

At Croquet for a Cure, we believe this wholeheartedly. Our greatest legacy won’t be measured by trophies, titles, or totals raised alone—it will be measured in the hearts we’ve nurtured, the values we’ve passed on, and the lives we’ve shaped along the way.

Looking Ahead

As Croquet for a Cure continues to grow, so does our commitment to empowering young people through service, leadership, and purpose. The Youth Crew is proof that when kids are given responsibility, trust, and a meaningful mission, they rise to the occasion—and inspire everyone around them.

We are endlessly grateful for our Youth Crew, past and present, and we can’t wait to see how they continue to shape the future of Croquet for a Cure and the fight against Alzheimer’s.
